Instructor: Janet Anderson

Public space is a defining feature of our quality of life, both in the physical infrastructure that fosters health and prosperity, and in the opportunities provided by social and cultural facilities. This course will tour some of the great spaces that the instructor visited in her 500 miles of walks across America’s old cities. We will discuss how a crisis of confidence in the public sector and collective life is threatening the vitality of these critical spaces now.

About the Presenter: Janet Anderson is a professed urbanist and frequently writes and presents on the state of our great cities. She is a Ph.D. in public policy analysis, a career city of Detroit employee, an adjunct professor at Wayne State University, and is active in a variety of civic causes.
